Random thoughts I felt were worthy of passing along

Yes, More T-Shirts!

This is a fav of mine:

On the back-I don’t need to write that down, I’ll remember it.

On the front-The Biggest Lie I Tell Myself!

Is that cute or what? Oh, possibly a dig at old people, you think? How about this one, then:

On the back:I don’t have grey hair. I have wisdom highlights.

On the front: I am VERY wise.

On the back: I decided to stop calling the bathroom “JOHN” and started calling it “JIM.”

On the front: I feel great now that I go to the “JIM” regularly!

Big T-Shirt Response!!

As you know if you follow this blog, we have been sharing T-shirt sayings and I have a few more to put out there:

  1. Laugh until you leak-It makes it all seem seen funnier! (Old ladies get this-don’t ask me how I know that.)
  2. Bacon is the Answer-Oh, what was the question?
  3. It clearly states PRINCESS on my birth certificate.
  4. I can’t believe I forgot to go to the gym today. That’s 247 days in a row!
  5. Don’t Grow Up-It’s a Trap!

Got some more-Keep them coming!

Seen On T-Shirts Lately!!

Boy, this last week I have seen a spate (That means an unexpectedly huge!) number of hilarious T-Shirts. I just had to share a few. Please do share if you have some funny ones also.

  1. Bucket List For Seniors-Keep Breathing!
  2. If I woke up in the morning with no aches or pains, I would think I might be dead!
  3. I am so busy I don’t know whether I found a rope or lost my horse!
  4. Sorry I am late for your party-I didn’t really want to come anyway!
  5. Mother Loves You, But I am her favorite!
  6. Somehow, despite the look on my face, you are still talking!

My personal favorite of the week was so long I had to ask the woman in the grocery store line to turn around so I could read it all:

“Despite what you may think, I keep a list not to remember what to buy, but to keep in practice for remembering who to nag!”

Again, if you seen any good ones lately-Please share!

Sharing The Love

A friend of mine from church shared a lovely thought with me today. She said that she was having a bad day, then she smiled and said:

“Every day may not be a great day, but there must be something great in every day.”

I thought about this for a minute and then smiled back at her and agreed. There absolutely MUST be something great in every day even if it is small and hard to find. Here I am alive and breathing, I just had a healthy lunch. I can walk up the stairs in my house without gasping for air. I just had a lovely email from a student of mine My grandson told me he loved me this morning. ……..think about it. We honestly could go on and on!!

Book Discoveries!!

I have not started Spring Cleaning quite yet as there is still snow on the ground here, but I have started to go through my huge hoard of old books. I save old cookbooks like some people save coins in a coin jar and periodically I go through and either inventory or purge.

Often I find some oldies but goodies that I like to review and share. today I found:

  1. The Hungry Girl Diet-One of many written by Lisa Lillien and the best of all of her titles.
  2. The 28 Day Hearty Dash Diet-Good recipes with lots of pictures and detail.
  3. The McDougal Program-Very radical but it actually works if you can take the discipline.
  4. The Trim The Fat Diet with Alpine Lace dairy products-Not recommended-it uses reduced fat everything and calls itself a healthy diet. Yes, fewer calories and fat, but not so tasty and a bit out of date nutrition wise.
  5. Fit and Trim at 40!-This is a paper back put out by Prevention Magazine and I think only available on line but really good. Very simple and easy to follow. I almost always like things from PREVENTION magazine.

Dig through some of your old books and see what you can find.

Spring!!

OK, so there is still some snow on the ground here and it is dark at 6:00-so what??  Spring is on the way. Soon the clocks will be reset and the weather will allow buds, flowers, bulbs, and all things SPRING! I can hardly wait. Tune in for lots of spring stuff!

Thought for the Day

If you think the Super Bowl is the BIG GAME, take a look around you. The biggest game of all is being played out in Washington DC. Money is at stake in numbers we little people can only imagine.  Sadly,  also at stake are people’s life styles, family, health care, and yes, even life and death. Less that half of us actually watched or cared about the Super Bowl. It got the lowest ratings in over ten years. I wonder how many of us are watching what is happening in Congress and the WH? That is what is really effecting our lives, not some jive football game.

CAN $$$ really buy everything?

If money can buy everything, why did Jeff Bezos not seem very happy at the Super Bowl in that fabulous sky box??  One wonders.  This BLOG is not about politics, it is about a total health life style package, so it seems to me that Jeff could have better spent “happiness buying” money if what he is buying is not making him happy. He was in a million dollar sky box at the Super Bowl all the while saying what a great guy Colin K is for standing up for social justice while in actual fact, statistically speaking if Jeff made $100,000 per year is annual contributions to charity would  equal a total ninety cents. Not too good in my opinion. No Bueno, Jeff.

His own employees have taken a big risk and criticized his policies on maternity leave and health care and low salaries  to name only a few things. $$Ten Million for the ad???  It reminds me of the picture of Colin K’s house that was circulating a while back. It is a beautiful stone mansion surrounded by moats and canals. You wish you lived there and so do I. I guess social justice warriors need to have things others do not.

How is this related to good health, you may ask? Well, I got it off my chest and it has been bothering me a long time, so there!

Thought For The Day

When life brings you snow, think snow cones. Yes, I love these corny sayings. I like the one about lemons and lemon ade, and my personal favorite, when life brings you rain, think about going into the umbrella business. All of these sayings and ones like them are, of course, meant to cheer us up and improve that outlook on life that gets so down in this awful weather.

Making yourself feel better by setting some good personal goals on a short term basis then achieving them as quickly as possible works for me. I don’t look at dropping 20 pounds in six months when the weather is freezing and I can’t go outside. I try to look at making a pretty arrangement out of some grocery store flowers. Don’t say you are going to read “War and Peace” say you are going to read REAL SIMPLE magazine and get and use two good ideas. Don’t say you are gong to do yoga every day for a month, say you are going to do yoga right now and do it. You get the idea????

So, cold dreary nothing day-give yourself a break, eat some chocolate, take a hot bath with some smell good bubble bath, and watch a movie!  Why not??

Do you have a recipe to share???

Does anyone out there have a recipe for corn pudding? I had some at a buffet the other day but could not find the person who made it. What a great dish!

It was baked in a large glass pan and placed in a flat basket and served with a spoon. It was pretty solid-did not run off the spoon. It had a sweet taste. Yummy! Any ideas? Please share.
